A front looks to push onto the lower South Island this morning then weakening as it moves northwards reaching the lower North Island later in the afternoon or evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas for most, sunny spells about the Bay Of Plenty. Breezy southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Eastern North Island
Early showers clear then sunny areas increase, light winds tend Sou’West in the afternoon. Further cloud with the risk of some drizzle overnight.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington
Becoming mostly sunny this morning, further cloud and the risk of a shower from evening as northerly winds change southerly.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds about Marlborough, Nelson sees southwesterly breezes. Late afternoon or evening a southerly change brings some cloud.
Highs: 19-21

Canterbury
A sunny morning then southerlies freshen around midday bringing increasing cloud and some drizzle especially inland.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast
Morning rain about South Westland easing and spreading northwards reaching North Westland in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy with west to southwesterly winds. Conditions dry out later in the evening / overnight with winds becoming light.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago
Early rain eases to showers then clearing early afternoon, remaining mostly cloudy although some sun may break through afternoon onwards for Central Otago. Brisk southwesterly winds easing later in the day.
Highs: 11-17
