Tuesday’s national forecast

A breezy northwesterly airflow lies over the country today, showery and wet in the west, mainly dry out east with some high cloud.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with a few patchy showers or areas of drizzle. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty may not see patchy showers till late afternoon or evening but a chance remains this morning and afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas with light northerlies. Taranaki sees cloudier skies with patchy showers from afternoon, winds gustier from the north. The odd shower moves into the Central North Island later in the evening.

Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud later in the day, northerly winds increase from afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower, mainly afternoon on wards. Breezy northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Plenty of high cloud with north to northwesterly winds, some rain at times from late morning especially about Nelson and the Sounds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury

High cloud with northerly winds.
High: 15

West Coast

Cloudy with showers then rain by midday with heavy falls at times, rain eases to showers around midnight as breezy north to northwesterly winds change southwest.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago

High cloud with northerly winds, a few brief spells / spots of rain possible late afternoon or evening otherwise dry. Inland Central Otago especially in the west sees rain from midday then easing evening.
Highs: 10-14
