An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather across the country today however a weak front brings cloud skies to the east of the South Island.

Northland
Mostly sunny with light winds at first, southerlies develop along the west coast in the afternoon and winds tend ESE in the east. Winds ease later in the evening.
High: 23-24

Auckland

Mostly sunny with south to southwesterly breezes.
High: 24

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with light winds, warm afternoon temperatures. The Bay Of Plenty will
see an afternoon northerly sea breeze however keeping temperatures slightly
cooler then inland areas.
Highs: 23-26

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon easterly
breezes. There may be a touch of evening cloud.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island

Sunny spells with northwesterly winds changing SSE in the afternoon. For
Taranaki expect southwesterlies for much of the day with sunny spells and
periods of cloud, low risk of a brief shower or two near the coast in the
morning.
High: 22-24

Wellington

Winds change southerly in the morning bringing cloudy periods, sunny spells
still about at times. Winds swing roung to the east by evening.
High: 20

Nelson

Sunny in the morning with south to southwesterly breezes, winds tend
northerly in the afternoon with a few clouds drifting in. Cloud thickens in the
evening.
Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Sunny spells at first however expect increasing cloud, mostly cloudy from
midday with southerlies tending easterly.
High: 20

Canterbury

Cloudy periods with southerly breezes in the morning tending easterly
during the afternoon, chance of a morning drizzle patch otherwise mostly dry
weather can be expected. There is the chance of a late evening / overnight
drizzle patch, at first near the foothills then towards dawn on Wednesday near
the coast.
High: 16

West Coast

Morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, becoming mostly sunny in
the afternoon. Southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 17-18

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with west to southwest winds easing in the afternoon then
tending northeast in the evening. Some cloud moves in during the evening
too.
High: 16

Central Otago

Any early cloud clears to sunny weather, light southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 17

Southland

A few morning showers clear, cloudy periods break to sunny spells in the
afternoon. Westerly winds ease in the evening. Temperatures fairly cool
overnight.
Highs: 15
