Tuesday night’s national forecast

A front lies over the North Island tonight, mainly south of the Waikato. This will likely bring some rain or showers to most areas for a time, eastern regions may only see a brief taste of the wet stuff. In the South Island conditions are fairly dry apart from the chance of a drizzle patch in Canterbury.

Northland
Mainly clear with some cloud developing overnight, westerly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-14

Auckland
Areas of cloud increase this evening becoming cloudy overnight, westerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 13-14

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Fairly cloudy with westerly winds, rain about the Central North Island spreads into the Waikato overnight and then into the Bay Of Plenty towards dawn tomorrow morning.
Tonight’s Low: 11-13

Eastern North Island
West to northwest breezes with some high cloud, winds change southwest overnight bringing a few brief showers.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Western North Island
Areas of rain with strong westerlies easing overnight, rain clears overnight also.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Wellington
The odd shower possible this evening with winds changing southerly later. Cloudy spells overnight but mainly dry.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson
Fairly cloudy with southwesterlies developing this evening, clear spells develop overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 6-7

Marlborough
High cloud with northwesterly winds easing this evening, light winds overnight with cloudy areas.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Canterbury
Fairly cloudy skies with the chance of a drizzle patch, east to northeast winds. Heavy showers about South Canterbury clearing this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 5

West Coast
Mainly clear skies, southwesterly winds ease overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-7

Coastal Otago
Clear spells and some cloud, any remaining showers clear this evening. Southwesterlies ease overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 6

Central Otago
Mainly clear with southwesterlies easing overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-2

Southland
Remaining showers clear this evening, clear spells overnight with easing westerly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-6

Seems like the front has fizzled out as it went past Wellington.
The rain has gone around us but fallen in the Tararuas as forcast, wind has dropped but still very overcast.
If fine tomorrow then I had better trim back the Lavender plants and wash the car.
