Tuesday night’s national forecast

A mainly dry night ahead for most although showers will continue about the West Coast of the South Island and the southwestern corner of the North Island. Watch for the chance of some fog developing about inland parts of the North Island overnight.

Northland
Clear spells and some cloud with north to northwest breezes.
Low tonight: 7-8

Central North Island, Waikato, Bay Of Plenty & Auckland
Clear spells and some cloud with light north to northwest winds, there could be a morning fog patch or two especially about some inland areas later in the night.
Low tonight: 5-9

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies with light winds, west to northwest winds about Wairarapa a little breezy at times.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Western North Island
Cloudy periods with the odd shower at times, especially about Kapiti and northern Taranaki. Showers a little more widespread overnight. Northwest breezes.
Low tonight: 8-10

Nelson
Cloudy spells with west to northwest breezes, brisk about Wellington. The odd shower possible, showers more likely overnight.
Lows tonight: 6-10

Marlborough
Mainly clear skies with northwesterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 4-5

Canterbury
Mainly clear skies this evening and overnight, light winds.
Low tonight: 2-3

West Coast
Showers with northerly winds.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Coastal Otago
Mainly clear, could be some low cloud about. Light winds tend northeast.
Lows tonight: 4-5

Southland & Central Otago
Mainly clear skies with light winds tending northerly.
Lows tonight: 2-3
