An east to northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, strong for some meanwhile a large high sits out to our east and low pressure sits in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy with rain north of the Waikato, Northland may have a few heavy falls especially in the east. Rain eases in the evening at which point there may catch a spit or two elsewhere. Blustery easterlies.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
High cloud, mid level cloud thickens from afternoon pushing in from the northwest. Evening showers for Taranaki. Northeasterlies.
Highs: 15-20

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud breaks to high cloud, spits of rain possible from afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Partly cloudy with northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Marlborough & Nelson

Partly cloudy, rain moves into Nelson overnight. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury

Partly cloudy, northeasterly winds across the plains strong about the coast, easing later in the day. Winds tend more to the north inland.
Highs: 17-20

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with rain south of Westport, heavy falls at times. Buller has a mainly dry day then some rain moves in overnight. Northeasterly winds.

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, chance spot of from afternoon, rain more likely about the lakes district. North to northeasterly winds, gusty northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
