A ridge keeps the weather fairly settled over the North Island today. For the South Island a frontal system brings some rain to the West Coast later in the day, showers move into Southland and Otago late afternoon and evening with a south to southwest change.
Auckland & Northland
Morning cloud clears to sunny spells, light winds and afternoon sea
Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Mostly sunny with light winds tending westerly in the afternoon,
northerlies develop after midday about the Bay Of Plenty however. Risk of a late
afternoon and evening isolated shower about the Central North Island.
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with east to northeast breezes developing in the morning. A
few late afternoon and evening isolated showers possible, mainly inland.
Western North Island
Sunny spells with northerly breezes tending westerly in the afternoon south
of Taranaki. A few isolated showers possible late afternoon and evening inland.
Cloud thickens up at night.
A mix of sunny areas and some cloud, cloud increases in the afternoon then
overnight a few spells of rain move in. Northerlies, brisk after midday.
Sunny spells with northerly breezes, increasing afternoon. A few late
evening spots of rain possible.
Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from midday, light winds freshen
from the northwest in the afternoon.
Mostly sunny with northeasterlies near the coast and increasing high cloud,
northwesterlies inland. A few spells of late afternoon and evening rain are

otherwise dry. In the evening rain moves in north of Haast with thunderstorms possible then eases overnight.

southwesterly change brings showers which clear overnight.

Sunny with thickening high cloud, northerly winds. A late afternoon or
evening southerly change brings showers which clear around midnight.
