A west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today. A cold southwest front moves onto the lower South Island this morning however, reaching the upper South Island this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, cloud more frequent south of Auckland with the chance of an isolated shower at times. The Bay Of Plenty has a mostly sunny day. Westerly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas with a shower at times, dry periods too. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington
Sunny areas, may be a spit or shower (mainly in the north) otherwise mainly dry. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, late afternoon or evening a few showers move through as northwesterly winds change southwest.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast
Showers, rain about South Westland with a chance of heavy falls spreads into North Westland during the afternoon. Northwesterlies change southwest then rain eases back to showers.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago
Morning rain then showers and occasional sunny spells for Southland, Otago has some morning rain then drying out and sunny areas increasing in the afternoon. Northwesterlies change west to southwest during the morning.
Highs: 9-12
