Generally settled across the country tonight with a westerly quarter airflow flowing over New Zealand, a trough moving into the west of the North Island this evening brings heavy showers and thunderstorms however especially about the Taranaki region.

Northland

Clear spells with the chance of a shower this evening then clearing, west to northwest winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Auckland

Periods of cloud, showers this evening possibly heavy for a brief time then easing. Showers mostly clear overnight. West to northwest winds.

Tonight’s Low: 12

Bay Of Plenty

Periods of cloud with the odd shower, mostly clearing by midnight.
Northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of cloud with the odd shower, especially this evening then easing
overnight. Northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear skies with northwesterlies easing this evening, a few showers
may spread from the west overnight mainly about the Wairarapa.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Taranaki

Showers, heavy with thunderstorms. Northerly winds change westerly around
midnight with showers and storms clearing.

Tonight’s Low: 11

Western North Island

Clear spells, a few showers move in mid to late evening with northwesterly
winds.

Wellington
Showers move in this
evening with isolated heavy falls possible, north to northwesterly winds.
Showers clearing overnight with cloud breaking away.

Nelson

Cloudy areas with some rain for a time this evening then clearing by
midnight, light winds. Skies clearing up overnight.

Marlborough

Some high cloud with northwesterlies easing, a period of showers develops
this evening possibly heavy, mainly about the Sounds then clearing by midnight.
Clear skies developing overnight.

Canterbury

High cloud with light winds, high cloud clears away overnight.

West Coast

Cloudy areas with occasional showers, northerly winds.

Coastal Otago

High cloud clearing away this evening, light winds.

Central Otago

Mainly clear skies with light northwesterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 3-4

Southland

Clear spells, chance of a brief shower this evening then clearing. Mainly
clear skies overnight with northerlies.
