A ridge of high pressure brings mainly clear skies to the north, west and south of the South Island tonight while in the east there is cloudy areas with some drizzle possible. For the North Island a southeasterly airflow brings increasing cloud and late drizzle in the east, skies clear up in the west gradually although western Northland has cloud hang round for much of the night.

Auckland & Northland

Areas of cloud about Auckland breaking up overnight as southwesterlies tend southerly. Cloud remains for most of the night about western Northland with southerly breezes, mainly clear skies in the east.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear skies with east to southeast winds developing this evening,
southwesterlies about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty gradually ease.

Tonight’s Lows: 12-16

Eastern North Island

Cloud increasing from evening with drizzle patches overnight, easterly
breezes.

Tonight’s Lows: 14-15

Western North Island

Mainly clear skies with southeasterly breezes, remaining cloud about
northern Taranaki clears this evening.

Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Wellington

Areas of cloud thickening this evening with southerly breezes, some drizzle
overnight.

Tonightâ€™s Low: 15

Nelson

Clear skies with northerlies easing this evening, light winds
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 13-14

Marlborough

Easterly breezes with cloud increasing this evening, drizzle possible
overnight near the coast.

Tonight’s Low: 13

Canterbury

Cloudy with drizzle patches about the foothills, drier nearer the coast
although there may be some drizzle at times overnight. Southerlies tend easterly
overnight.

Tonight’s Low: 11

West Coast

Cloudy areas about South Westland and Fiordland breaking up a little
overnight, mainly clear skies further north. Light winds.

Tonight’s Low: 12-13

Coastal Otago

Areas of cloud, a few clear spells. Light southerlies tend northeast this
evening.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Central Otago

Mainly clear skies with brisk southerlies easing this evening, light winds
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Southland

Mainly clear skies with southwesterlies easing this evening, light winds
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 6-7
