A west to southwesterly airflow eases over the country tonight with a small ridge passing over for a time. Meanwhile this evening a few heavy thundery showers are moving through South Canterbury.

Auckland & Northland
Clear spells with strong west to southwest winds easing this evening. Some cloud develops in the west towards dawn with the chance of a light shower.
Low tonight: 12

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Clear spells with gusty westerly winds easing this evening.
Lows tonight: 9-12

Eastern North Island
Clear skies, west to southwest winds ease overnight.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Western North Island
Westerly breezes with some cloud developing this evening, chance of a light shower at times overnight otherwise mainly dry.
Low tonight: 11-12

Mainly clear skies, northerlies tend southerly for a time later this evening. Winds swing round to the north again around dawn tomorrow.
Low tonight: 10

Brisk southwesterlies ease later this evening, mainly clear skies.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Mainly clear skies overnight, easterlies ease away this evening.
Low tonight: 5-6

Heavy thundery showers about South Canterbury clearing this evening, a few showers may make it into Mid and North Canterbury this evening for a time then clearing by midnight. Southwesterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 4-5

West Coast
Cloudy areas, chance of a drizzle patch. Southwesterly breezse ease.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Coastal Otago
Any remaining showers clear this evening and skies becoming clear, southwesterlies die out tonight. High cloud develops towards dawn.
Lows tonight: 5-6

Central Otago
Clear skies and light winds, some high cloud develops overnight.
Lows tonight: 2-4

Mainly clear skies, northeasterly develop overnight with some high cloud developing too.
Low tonight: 3
