Thursday night’s national forecast

Most of the action weather is located about the upper North Island tonight, this includes areas or rain or showers with heavy falls for some. The last move from our frontal system that pushed over the South Island during the second half of yesterday. A weak front works it’s way up the east coast of the South Island overnight also and this brings some cloud and the chance of the odd shower.

Auckland & Northland
The odd shower, possibly heavy overnight. South to southeasterly winds gradually develop.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Showers, heavy at times easing overnight. South to southeast winds develop around midnight.
Lows tonight: 3-7

Eastern North Island
Rain or showers north of Hawke’s Bay, dry this evening about Wairarapa however a few showers return overnight. Cold south to southwest winds.
Low tonight: 6

Western North Island
Rain about Taranaki clearing this evening, the odd remaining shower further south clears also. Gusty southeasterly winds, strong about Taranaki.
Lows tonight: 4-6

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, the odd shower returning overnight. Brisk cool southerlies.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Nelson
Mainly clear, light south to southwest winds.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Marlborough
Mainly clear with southerlies.
Low tonight: 2

Canterbury
Some cloud developing this evening. Chance of a shower or two during the night about the hills and ranges of Mid and North Canterbury, southwest breezes.
Lows tonight: 1-5

West Coast
Clear with light winds.
Lows tonight: 1-2

Central Otago
Clear with some cloud, light southerlies dying out overnight.
Low tonight: 0

Southland & Coastal Otago
Any showers clear later this evening then clear spells develop overnight. West to southwest winds.
Lows tonight: 2-5
