WeatherWatch.co.nz and Newstalk ZB have received reports of a Tornado around Taranaki today.  The reports haven’t been confirmed.

Severe weather is affecting much of the North Island with thunderstorms, hail and heavy showers affecting most places from Wellington to Auckland.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says the weather isn’t ideal for motorists heading away for the long weekend and say North Islanders should take extreme care with icy roads from Auckland to Wellington.
