Sunny in the east, cloudy in the west – The Big Picture on Thursday

A west to southwesterly airflow lies over much of the country on Thursday.

It’s shaping up to be a mainly settled day across the country, with sunny weather in the east and cloudy areas in the west.
East to northeasterly winds then become fairly gusty in the afternoon along the Canterbury coastline.

Later in the day a west to northwesterly airflow starts to crunch up over the South Island, Southland in particular.
The West Coast of the South Island is fairly cloudy during the day with the risk of the odd shower – particularly late on in the day.
