High pressure covers the North Island but is weaker over the South Island and around Cook Strait. This means low morning cloud and fog is more likely through the North Island, if it develops it may linger all morning in some inland areas.
Otherwise many places are sunny in the North Island, while rain sets in across Fiordland with some spits/spillover further into Southland and Otago.
The South Island may have a light NW breeze in the morning.
Daytime highs will be above average almost everywhere today but this morning and overnight will still be cooler than usual for a number of North Island areas. Please refer to your local 10 day forecast for hourly temperatures.
