An anticyclone is centred over Northland tonight bringing light winds while a westerly airflow persists further south. Clear skies out east for both islands while in the west there may be the odd shower about.

Northland
Any shower activity clearing this evening then expect a mix of clear spells and some cloud for the rest of the night. Light winds.
Lows tonight: 6-8

Auckland
Clear and cloudy spells with light west to southwest winds. Low risk of a shower at times, mainly out west.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
A mix of clear and cloudy spells for most with light west to southwest winds. There is the risk of a light shower at times mainly for western parts of the Waikato and Central North Island.
Lows tonight: 3-6

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies tonight with light west to northwest winds, about Wairarapa winds may be a little more breezier.
Lows tonight: 6-8

Western North Island
Cloudy periods with west to northwest winds, chance of the odd shower at times also.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Wellington
Mainly clear, perhaps a few clouds about. Northerly breezes.
Lows tonight: 9

Nelson
Mainly clear skies with southwest breezes easing from this evening.
Lows tonight: 5-6

Canterbury, Marlborough
Mainly clear skies with light winds, northwest breezes for some inland areas with a slightly milder night ahead than nearer the coast.
Lows tonight: 2-3

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, showers more likely about Fiordland with rain there by dawn.
Low tonight: 6

Southland & Otago
Mainly clear skies with north to northwest breezes inland and about Southland, light winds for coastal Otago. Some high cloud develops towards dawn.
Lows tonight: 3-6
