Summer-like temperatures

Summer-like temperatures affected a number of regions across New Zealand yesterday.

Many at both ends of the country woke to temperatures around the 17 degree mark at 7am with Dunedin the warmest on 20 degrees.

By afternoon a number of centres were in the 20s with hot northerlies giving Alexandra the national high of 28 degrees.  Timaru was second best on 27.  A number of centres reached 24 such as Dunedin, Oamaru, Ashburton and Kaikoura with 22s and 23s right across both islands.
