Show week gets a pass mark

Tomorrow is Cup Day at Addington, Christchurch where thousands of people dress up and make the most of the atmosphere in a week where the country comes to town.

Show week is traditionally blessed with sunny skies and warm nor’ westers although in recent years it has struggled to meet that as show week has been moved forward on the calendar.

This week it starts off with cool temperatures and today showers will slowly clear but tomorrow looks mostly settled with sunshine but a nip in the air.

The rest of the week generally looks dry but remaining mostly cool with temperatures in the mid teens.

The A & P show on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday seems to be behaving itself with sunshine, a few cloudy spells and nor’ east breezes.

Show Day on Friday looks good with high cloud possibly thickening and a nor’ east breeze keeping the top temperature at about 17 degrees.

The Riccarton races on Saturday sees a small chance of a shower or two flicking through but our money at this stage is for dry conditions.

I think you will find that cup week is now a week later so as not to clash with the Melbourne cup. Some lovely warm days last week….
