Saturday’s national forecast

An anticyclone covers much of the South Island today bringing settled and mainly sunny weather. The North Island is mainly sunny in the west, showers persist in the east. Northland may experience a few showers in the evening out east.

Northland
Mostly sunny in the morning, some cloud develops during the afternoon. There may be a shower or two in the evening especially in the east then clearing at night.
Highs: 14-15

Auckland
Some cloud develops during the morning then clears later in the afternoon. Sunny spells at times too especially earlier on then later in the day. Breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny weather, there may be some morning cloud about the Bay Of Plenty and Waikato but this should clear. Breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-16

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, brisk southeasterly winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 12-13

Western North Island
Any morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day. Southeasterlies, brisk at times especially about Taranaki.
High: 14-15

Wellington
Morning cloud periods, afternoon sunny spells. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Nelson
Sunny with morning southwesterlies dying away.
High: 14

Marlborough
Sunny after any morning cloud clears, east to southeast breezes.
High: 14

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with easterly breezes near the coast, light winds inland. Some evening cloud especially north of Banks Peninsula.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Sunny with light winds, cold morning and night.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago
Sunny with northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Central Otago
Sunny with light winds. Fairly cold morning and night with frosts possible.
Highs: 14-15
