An anticyclone brings mainly settled conditions to New Zealand on Monday, despite this there will be some areas of cloud and the chance of a shower or two for certain regions.
For the upper North Island conditions are mostly sunny on Monday, light winds in the morning giving way to afternoon sea breezes. Some cloud builds about Waikato and Bay Of Plenty in the afternoon bringing the risk of an isolated shower. Afternoon temperatures reaching into the high teens or perhaps early twenties.
Mostly sunny for the lower western North Island, Wellington sees early cloud break to a mostly sunny day. Cloud in the east breaks to afternoon sunny spells, there may be a light morning shower or two for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Winds are mostly light tending onshore in the afternoon, afternoon temperatures in the mid to late teens.
Cloudy areas and occasional sun for the West Coast of the South Island, there may be a light shower or two at times for North Westland during the day also. Winds from the west or southwest. Mostly sunny for Nelson and Marlborough with afternoon north to northwesterly winds. Afternoon high’s in the low to mid teens along the West Coast, mid to high teens about Nelson and Marlborough.
Morning cloud about Canterbury breaks to some sun. Cloud starts to thicken up about South Canterbury from afternoon bringing a few drizzle patches then reaching North Canterbury in the evening as easterly quarter winds swing around to the south. Cloudy areas and occasional sun for Southland and Otago, sun more likely in the afternoon for inland areas. High’s in the mid teens for Canterbury and Central Otago, low double figures for Southland and coastal Otago.
