Monday’s national forecast – Mild with showers (+7 Maps)

It will be a sunny and warm day in many eastern parts of the North Island but elsewhere cloudy weather is most likely.

Showers extend up New Zealand’s entire western coastline, although rainfall totals are not that great – some may even be dry all day but simply have an elevated risk of a late day shower. South Westland and Coastal Otago have the bigger totals, although most will only receive around 5 to 10mm.

Winds will be brisk in the southern ends of both islands – they increase further overnight and into Tuesday.

Today is warmer than average in every region with parts of the inland South Island once again over 8 degrees above normal.

A westerly flow covers the country and high pressure increases in the north later today and into Tuesday.
