A west to southwesterly airflow lies over the North Island today while a colder more southerly airflow lies over the South Island. Southerlies spread into the lower North Island during this afternoon and evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas with the odd shower at times, the Bay Of Plenty sees drier weather with a higher chance of sun. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, some rain for a time this evening then clearing overnight as westerlies change southerly.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny, rain develops this afternoon about the Wairarapa as southwesterly winds freshen. A few showers move into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne later this evening.
Highs: 14-17

Wellington
Some morning sun then afternoon rain as breezy northwesterly winds change southerly.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Some sun this morning, rain develops this afternoon for Marlborough as southerlies freshen, rain clears this evening. Nelson is mainly dry although there is the risk of a shower this afternoon as southerlies develop.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
Morning rain eases to showers this afternoon, mostly clearing this evening although one or two may linger about coastal fringes through the night. Cold southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, showers may hang about Buller / Tasman however till this evening then clearing. Southerly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago
Early rain eases to showers, showers clearing from inland areas this afternoon and some sun breaks through. The odd shower may linger near coastal areas till later this evening. Cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10
