Monday’s national forecast

A high sits in the Tasman Sea today while a southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand, conditions are fairly tame although expect areas of cloud about for some mainly in the west. The South Island has a weakening front over it, morning showers clear on the West Coast and about Canterbury.

Any morning cloud breaking to sunny areas, light winds tend southwest. An afternoon sea breezes develops for some coastal eastern regions however.

Cloudy areas with southwesterly winds, chance of a light shower or two
(mainly this morning) otherwise dry. Southwesterly breezes.

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with southwesterlies tending westerly this afternoon, there
may be some cloud about this morning then quickly clearing.
Highs: 28-29

Central North Island

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, some cloud may hang around a
little throughout the day about the Waikato. West to southwest winds.
High: 25-27

Eastern North Island

Sunny weather with light northeasterlies, winds tend southerly this
afternoon about the Wairarapa then into Hawkes Bay later this evening bringing
some cloud. Chance of a drizzle patch about the Wairarapa later this
evening.

Western North Island

Cloud (chance of a light shower this morning) breaks to sunny areas by
midday, westerly quarter winds.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Sunny areas with northwesterly winds, winds change southerly this afternoon
with increasing cloud then there may be some late / overnight drizzle.

Nelson

Mostly sunny with southwesterlies at first this morning then tending
westerly. Light northerlies this afternoon. Chance of a late afternoon / evening
isolated shower in the ranges behind Nelson otherwise mainly dry.

Sunny areas at first this morning with westerly winds, east to northeast
winds move in by midday bringing a few areas of cloud. Chance of a late
afternoon / evening shower mainly inland.

Showers / drizzle this morning eases then mostly clearing, a chance the odd
light shower may remain till evening for some. Mostly cloudy this afternoon with
southerly winds tending east to southeast.
