Midwest USA stormy

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A storm system will continue to produce thunderstorms and locally heavy rain over the weekend.

Severe storms are possible in the Mississippi Valley through the overnight hours, spreading into the Ohio Valley tonight. Wet conditions can be expected for the running of the Kentucky Derby.

Heavy rain will also be a threat which will likely lead to flash flooding in parts of the Ohio Valley through the weekend.

By tomorrow, the heaviest rain can be expected from the central Great Lakes into the Ohio Valley, while a second and weaker system begins to bring some showers and a few thunderstorms to the Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley.
