That quote is being taken out of context yet again. What they meant was that from December onwards the North Island would not see anticyclonic dominance as is the case at the moment. So try not to give them a hard time if there’s a week of clear hot weather in January 😉

And here was the Met Office telling us all the anticyclones would scarper to Otago until April!
