A southwesterly airflow eases during the day tomorrow with a ridge pushing in for a time at night, there may be the odd surprise in the morning and afternoon in the form of instability.

For the upper North Island expect a mix of sun and cloud, there may be a shower or two about also (mainly in the west) otherwise mainly dry. Winds breezy from the southwest.

For much of the lower North Island, there may be a spell of heavy showers in the morning with a chance of hail then easing and sunny spells increasing. From the Wairarapa through to Gisborne about the ranges isolated showers may pop up along the ranges in the afternoon then clearing in the evening.

For the upper South Island expect a mix of sun and cloud, an isolated shower or two may pop up in the afternoon then clearing away in the evening. Showers mainly inland. A mix of sun and cloud for the West Coast and Canterbury, chance of an isolated shower about Canterbury in the afternoon mainly inland.

Southland and Otago see cloudy areas and the odd shower about coastal areas, inland should be sunnier with lighter winds from the southwest.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
