Friday’s national forecast – Front in the south

Mainly settled again today for most but we do have a front in the far south bringing rain to Fiordland, a northeasterly airflow in the far north brings a little cloud, perhaps a shower or two in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland, Auckland and Bay Of Plenty, one or two light showers in the east, Waikato is mostly sunny. Morning fog possible especially inland. Overnight rain moves into Northland from the north. East to northeasterly winds gradually pick up a touch during the day.
Highs: 16 – 18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny. Fog morning and night especially inland. Northerlies tend northwest around midday.
Highs: 13 – 16

Eastern North Island

Sunny with north to northwesterly winds, tending northeast in the afternoon for Hawkes Bay and perhaps coastal Gisborne.
Highs: 16 – 19

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud, breezy north to northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15 – 18

Canterbury

Sunny and warm, a touch of high cloud later in the day. Gentle north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15 – 18

West Coast

Cloudy down towards South Westland, rain for Fiordland with heavy falls in the south. Further north conditions are drier and sunnier. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12 – 14

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, late evening showers for Southland as northerlies change to the south. 
Highs: 15 – 17
