Cyclone Wati: Cook Islands today, Austral Islands tomorrow

Tropical Cyclone Wati is today (Sunday local time, Monday NZDT) tracking over the Cook Islands bringing damaging wind gusts to Rarotonga and the islands to the north east. Wati is tracking south-eastwards and starting to weaken now.

The tropical cyclone came in this morning, centred very close to Aitutaki as a Category 2 storm. It is expected to drop to Category 1 this afternoon or evening – and should lose its tropical cyclone status over Monday Cook Islands Time (Tuesday NZDT), as it moves away from the Cook Islands and into the Austral Islands of French Polynesia. This is our FINAL UPDATE on Tropical Cyclone Wati. Thank you for all your comments.
