Cyclists and drivers urged to beware of daylight saving

Early morning cyclists are being urged to get prepared for daylight saving.

Clocks went forward by an hour last night, creating an extra hour of light at night – but making for darker spring mornings.

Patrick Morgan of the Cycling Advocates Network said cyclists who’ll be up early need lights, reflectors and high-visibility riding gear.

He said daylight saving will also mean more cycling time in the evening, so motorists should be aware.

“Spring is a great time for cycling, people are often training for big events like the Taupo challenge, so all road users can expect there to be more people on bikes from now on.”
