Auckland needs to save water now

Bulk water supplier, Watercare is warning that water restrictions could be imposed in drought-stricken Auckland by September, if people do not make voluntary savings now.

The company expects water storage levels to drop to 50 percent in the next few weeks if there is not enough rainfall.

Watercare wants voluntary water savings of four percent. It says it is being prudent as it does not know how severe the drought will be until it is over.
