G'day there
The longest of the long range maps indicate it will be very changeable around then, it's a bit up in the air at the moment as to what will happen exactly as it's just too far out as you mention. But I can say it does look changable, either dry or wet potentially??
Sorry not much help right now. Come back and ask closer to the time if you like! :)

Hi there, the latest reliable models suggests high pressure is still dominating around then so looking mainly dry and calm at this stage, with a low chance of an afternoon shower possibly.

Hi there
I can't tell you anything too exact right now as the dates you mention are a week away. But suffice to say long range maps show anticyclonic conditions around then so it may actually be quite settled which is what you want. We'll have to wait and see how things unfold as those dates get closer.

Fishing at Kaipara Harbour Saturday
Hi thereWeather wise it's
Hi there
Weather wise it's looking mostly cloudy, a few spots of rain possible in the afternoon otherwise mainly dry, rain is more likely overnight. Winds from the northwest rising to 30 km/h during the morning, perhaps 35 to 40 km/h at times from afternoon.
A high around 18 degrees. The swell could be up to 2m rolling through the heads, in more sheltered parts of the harbour it may be a 1m swell.
Whether it is safe or not that is a job for your skipper to determine with weather information he has at hand, personally it doesn't look like the best day to go fishing perhaps but I've seen worse.
Cheers

micro climate
I'm no expert on Waiheke
I'm no expert on Waiheke (maybe Phil will chip in here) but overnight temperatures would probably be higher than for Auckland, being a smaller landmass surrounded by water. Being out in the Gulf it can also catch different types of weather that Auckland misses out on, especially in southeasterly airflows.
Daytime high's I wouldn't think would be much higher than elsewhere around Auckland, perhaps a tad cooler on average due to the small landmass in summer. Depending on the wind of the day the sheltered side of the Island would see higher temperatures but that would be the same for anywhere.
It'll be those overnight lows not dipping down as much which may provide a greater variety of plant life perhaps as they are not getting nailed by cold temperatures as often if at all.
Cheers
Aaron
Hi Aaron, I am a Waiheke
I could be wrong, once again
I could be wrong, once again I'm not an expert in terms of Waiheke. While our live observation map is definitely useful, unless temperature gauges / sensors are calibrated correctly and put in an environment to give accurate readings then there is the chance they could read slightly incorrectly. That goes for any gauge / sensor in any location.
The only information I have on hand is the annual mean temp for Waiheke is 15.2 degrees (NIWA report 2011), Auckland's can range from 15.1 to 15.9 depending what part of the city you take the reading from.
https://www.niwa.co.nz/sites/niwa.co.nz/files/updated_2011_annual_stats_...
Here is an excerpt from info on Wikipedia:
"It is often anecdotally said by locals that Waiheke has a micro-climate which differs to that of other parts of the Auckland isthmus. Though little factual data appears to exist to support this, the below-listed climatic data taken from a recent NIWA report does suggest Waiheke receives over 100 hours more per year of sunshine than other parts of Auckland. Detailed monthly climate data, such as air temperature, sea temperature and wind speeds is needed but does not appear to be readily available."
So a little more sunshine on average appears to be a sure thing, being that prevailing winds will be from the westerly quarter that makes sense. And living in a different spot naturally means you will get slightly different weather on average. I tend to think having different weather is not a competition, it's just weather. As Billy Connolly once said, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy raincoat and live a little." :D
Cheers
Aaron
Saturday Auckland
Hi there Latest information
Hi there
Latest information says it's a cloudy day, a burst of rain moves through in the morning with a warm front pushing over then drying out in the afternoon. Winds from the west or northwest with a high of 18 degrees. Overnight a fresh southwest change brings some further rain for a time.
And yes the further you go out into the future things can change with the weather from day to day, then typically as you get closer it narrows down and the forecast can become a bit more reliable.
Hope that helps! :)

Hi there, at this stage
Hi there, at this stage Saturday starts of fairly calm but Nor'West winds will become gusty later. There may be a late shower, otherwise a dry day at this stage. Showers increase overnight and early Sunday as a cold front moves in (and weakens as it moves in).

Weather 2-9 November queenstown
Hi thereFor anything very
Hi there
For anything very detailed you are best to look up our forecasts for Queenstown here:
https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/location/Queenstown
Other then that it's looking like you will probably get alternating days of dry and wet, then towards then end of your holiday from the 7th or perhaps 8th a large high may keep skies settled for the last few days.
Have a good time! :)

Titirangi Markets - Sunday 8am - 2pm
Hi there, The best way to
Hi there,
The best way to work it out is to keep an eye on our Rain Maps/Forecast Rain Radar to show the rain band moving in to the Auckland area, plus the Hourly % of rain in our Auckland or Titirangi forecasts. Looks likely it will be mainly dry for you at this stage but keep an eye on those two key areas this evening/early tomorrow in case the incoming rain speeds up a little. (only has to arrive a couple hours early to affect you).
Cheers - all the best!

Second week of November
Hi there, yes just slightly
Hi there, yes just slightly outside how far we can see with any real accuracy. At this early stage some of the longest range modelling we use (from America) shows a large high around Auckland during that week but it looks fast moving so can't be locked in . We'll have a better idea by early next week.
Cheers :)

Hows it looking?
The second week of November
The second week of November looks to kick off mostly dry and fairly calm thanks to a large high - so yes, at this stage :)

Saturday in Auckland
Hey there, thanks for the
Hey there, thanks for the question and kind feedbacl! :) Saturday is proving to be a tricky day to lock in for Auckland but it does appear rain is more likely later in the day. There might be a couple of showers morning/afternoon, but for now any patchy rain or showers look likey late afteroon or evening. Keen an eye on our hourly % of rain on Saturday too - it should be a helpful guide along with the rain maps we also provide.
All the best!

Auckland Marathon - Sunday :)
Hi there, thanks for your
Hi there, thanks for your question! At this stage Saturday sees a chance of heavy downpours in the Auckland region but by Sunday most of that risk appears to be well east of Auckland, which SHOULD make for a dry day with a SW change. It may be a little cloudy at first and we can't rule out a shower, but for now Sunday looks to be the better of both days. Keep an eye on our forecasts and Rain Maps too as the set up this weekend makes it a little hard to lock in.
Cheers - and all the best for the Marathon!!
- WW Team
Sat 27/10
Hi there, Saturday is quite
Hi there, Saturday is quite hard to lock in due to an area of convergence - meaning big downpours could form over the city and set in, turning to rain for a time. Or - it may form further out to sea or over surrounding regions. We'll be in a better place to lock in by late Wednesday/Thursday but at this stage Saturday has a moderate to high chance of some wet weather, drying out by the end of the day. Winds look light and that's the reason why this isn't a straight forward clean set up.
Cheers
WW
Thanks heaps guys!
Hey WW. It looks like the
Hi D, thanks for your message
Hi D, thanks for your message and question :) Yes definitely a colder snap coming this week for Dunedin and will take a few days to recover. For the most part, most regions in NZ look to have a warmer than average rest of October but coastal Otago is definitely more exposed to some cooler southerlies and SW flows over the next couple of weeks. Here's our recent story about the warmer weather https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/content/brief-hiccup-warmer-average-weather-week-otherwise-its-here-rest-october
So make the most of today and tomorrow as the next several days ahead look cooler for Dunedin but we expect milder weather to bounce back late Oct/early Nov.
Cheers
WW
Hey thank you heaps, guys.
Temperature Now really off the mark
Hi there. Unfortunately the
Hi there. Unfortunately the NZ Govt blocks open commercial access to data (in other words the weather observations we all collectively tax fund WW cannot display even for non commercial reasons). The NOW temps we have are local weather stations from private operators and some data is truly flawed and we have begun actively blocking those stations from appearing. The good news is that we have a couple of very big new changes coming in 2019 to our NOW observations. We'll not only display more data than anyone else but it will all be verifed to being accurate or very near accurate and will completely stop these false readings. We will also give the option for you to select the nearest weather observation you feel is most accurate to your local micro-climate. So we accept the problems - but are definitely working to fix in a bigger and better way in 2019.
Kind regards
WW
Dry already
Hi there, yes we feel your
Hi there, yes we feel your pain with this much warmer and drier than average pattern setting in. The good news is that NZ and Australia aren't stuck in any global weather pattern. In Aussie they have major droughts in SA and NSW but recently they've had more than a months rainfall in just a matter of days in some of those states. NZ may get some of this rain this weekend. It's a bit hit and miss for Pukekohe but there are chances of good solid downpours this weekend in the Upper North Island. Keep an eye on our Rain Maps to get a better picture. As for long term - summer can't be locked in but the fact there's no major El Nino or La Nina going on means NZ will be in a 'chaotic local pattern' which means we can truly have anything thrown at us... a few highs could give several weeks of dry, but equally we could get a pattern of rain makers moving in too. Generally speaking NZ is trending dry than average for the next week or two overall nationally but definitely rain makers in the mix for the first time in a while.
