An anticyclone covers much of the South Island today, expect mostly sunny weather although there will be some cloud along the east coast. For the North Island cloudy skies in the east with drizzle patches, sunnier out west.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with southerly breezes tending southwest in the west during the afternoon. Light northeasterlies are possible in the east especially about Auckland.
Highs: 18-20

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Sunny about the Bay Of Plenty, mostly sunny elsewhere too although cloud may be more persistent about eastern parts of the Central North Island. Southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 17-21

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with the odd drizzle patch, cool southerly winds. The Wairarapa sees long dry spells during the day.
High: 15-16

Western North Island
Sunny spells with southeasterly breezes, about northern Taranaki expect sunny conditions.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Sunny spells, long in the afternoon with brisk southerly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Nelson
Sunny with light winds then northerly breezes in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough
Sunny spells with east to southeast breezes.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
Sunny spells with east to northeast breezes, cloud may be thicker morning and night.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast
Mainly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-20

Coastal Otago
Sunny spells with east to northeast breezes.
Highs: 15-16

Central Otago
Sunny with light winds tending southerly, a few afternoon cloud build ups.
Highs: 22-23

Southland
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southeasterly, some evening cloud.
Highs: 17-18
