A front pushes northwards over the South Island today meanwhile a ridge weakens further north.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with west to southwest winds from afternoon.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas and increasing cloud, may be a shower or two from late afternoon / evening. Northwesterly winds change southwest overnight.
Highs: 19-21

Eastern North Island
Sunny with some evening high cloud, northwesterlies about Wairarapa, afternoon northeast winds further north. Overnight southerlies freshen with some cloud and the risk of a few showers.
Highs: 22-26

Wellington
Cloudy areas with blustery northwest winds, changing southerly overnight with a few showers.
High: 19-20

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud with breezy northwesterly winds. A few showers move through overnight with a southerly change.
Highs: 24-26

Canterbury
Sunny areas and some high cloud. Northwesterlies change southwest late afternoon bringing increasing cloud then evening showers, possibly heavy before clearing overnight.
Highs: 23-25

West Coast
Showers, heavy rain about Fiordland pushes northwards during the afternoon but eases at the same time. Drying up for most in the evening as northwesterlies change southwest.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Morning rain then showers, clearing overnight. Fresh west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-18
