A ridge of high pressure lies over New Zealand today extending out from a large high far to the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening especially about Northland and northern Auckland. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 26-29

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud with the risk of a light shower or two then sunny areas develop in the afternoon, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-26

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, afternoon east to northeast winds for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Wairarapa sees north to northwesterly winds all day long.
Highs: 26-30

Wellington
Cloudy areas, may be a spot of rain around midday. Breezy north to northwesterly winds ease in the evening.
High: 22-23

Marlborough & Nelson
High cloud, may be a spot of rain around midday then sun breaks through from afternoon. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 25-29

Canterbury
Morning cloud with a few spots of rain possible, sun breaking through from afternoon as northwesterly winds change southerly then swing around to the east.
Highs: 25-28

West Coast
Early heavy rain clears South Westland then sunny spells increase, rain doesn’t clear North Westland till afternoon, there may even be some areas which see some rain through till evening. Winds from the north or northwest mostly.
Highs: 19-22

Southland & Otago
Any early showers clear then mostly sunny with west to southwesterly winds easing in the evening, tending northeast in the evening about coastal Otago.
Highs: 18-26
