A low pressure system sits in the Tasman Sea today with an occluded front stretching out from this low passing over New Zealand from west to east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain with heavy falls then easing late afternoon as northeasterly winds tend northwest. Rain may not ease about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty till later in the evening / overnight.
Highs: 15-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain, easing to showers by midday as northeasterly winds tend northwest. There may be some sun break through at times from afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
Rain develops during the morning, clearing in the afternoon about the Wairarapa however continuing further north. Northeasterly winds.
High: 15

Wellington
Some rain develops in the morning, clearing late afternoon as northeasterly winds tend northwest. There may be some brief late day sun before dusk.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning rain (possibly heavy about Nelson) then sunny areas increase from afternoon as northeasterly winds tend northwest.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Some morning rain then sunny areas increase from afternoon, northeasterly winds, becoming light in the evening.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Morning rain then easing to showers, east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy then some sun breaks though for a time late afternoon / evening before dusk. Otago sees some morning rain, perhaps a few spots about Southland otherwise mainly dry. East to northeasterly winds.
