A northwesterly airflow lies over most of New Zealand today, a disturbance moves over the upper North Island in the afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Areas of rain with northwesterly winds, a chance of thunderstorms and hail in the afternoon then easing in the evening.
Highs: 13-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, mainly in the morning then long dry spells developing. Taranaki and the Central North Island may see a period of heavy showers from afternoon then easing in the evening. Breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, thickening in the evening with a few spots of rain possible. Breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Early showers clear then some sun breaks through, breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds. In the afternoon a few showers move into South Canterbury with a period of southerly winds.
Highs: 10-14

West Coast
Showers, easing in the evening and clearing overnight. Westerly winds.
Highs: 9-11

Southland & Otago
Showers with cool south to southwesterly winds, about central Otago winds are more westerly.
Highs: 10-11
