A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, cold, however a break from bleak conditions for most regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light southwesterly winds, some cloud at times for Northland however. Later in the evening cloud moves into western Waikato, western Auckland and further north with the chance of a shower or two.
Highs: 12-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny weather with light winds, some cloud moves into Taranaki in the evening with the chance of a shower. Coldest temperatures about the Central Plateau.
Highs: 8-13

Eastern North Island
A mix of sun and cloud, there will be a few showers however they are right on the coastal fringes. Showers mostly clearing the coastal fringes by evening although a few may linger about the likes of Mahia Peninsula. Fresh cool southwesterly winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington
Any morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny by afternoon, southerlies ease dying out by evening.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Canterbury
A mix of sun and cloud with light winds tending southwest in the afternoon, a frosty start for some parts well inland.
Highs: 9-13

West Coast
Sunny with light winds, a frosty start inland.
Highs: 8-12

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy about Southland and coastal Otago. The odd shower also, coastal Otago becomes drier from afternoon. Central Otago has a mix of sun and cloud. Westerly winds, breezy about coastal areas.
Highs: 8-11
