Wednesday’s national forecast

A large high is moving in across New Zealand – it will see lighter winds and warmer weather moving back into the South Island, especially southern areas which had a cold start to the week.

In the north the humid air flow is easing around northern New Zealand today – a few more showers in the upper North Island but most are clearing.


 

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers clearing (mostly around Coromandel Peninsula and East Cape – but plenty of dry weather now moving in.  Winds in these regions generally easterlies.
Highs: 23 – 26
Tonight’s lows: 16-19


Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A bit cloudy for some areas but sunny spells increasing. Winds from the east to SE
Highs: 23 to 26
Tonight’s lows: 13-15


Eastern North Island
Light winds, perhaps still coming off the sea. Risk of a shower – and more cloud – the further north you go, especially around the Gisborne hills.
Highs: 18 to 23
Tonight’s lows: 12 to 14



Wellington
Mostly Sunny with light winds.
High:  20
Tonight’s lows: 11


Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly Sunny with light winds – could be some morning cloud.
Highs: 18 – 23
Tonight’s lows: 10 – 12


Canterbury
Mostly Sunny after morning cloud in some areas, especially coastal. Large high rolling in for you too, so calmer – and warmer.
Highs: 19 – 23
Tonight’s low: 9 to 13

West Coast
Mostly Sunny with light winds. Hotter inland.
Highs: 24 – 25
Tonight’s lows: 8 – 12

Southland & Otago
A large high is rolling in so lighter winds and warmer weather. May be a bit cloudy near the coast, sunny further inland.
Highs: Around 17 or 18
Tonight’s lows: 6 to 9
