A southwesterly airflow lies over much of New Zealand today, early rain or showers clears the upper North Island then expect sunny areas although there may be an isolated shower or two late afternoon / evening about parts of the Bay Of Plenty. Generally dry elsewhere.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Early rain clearing away then expect sunny areas, southwesterly winds breezy this afternoon. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, light winds tending breezy southwesterly about Taranaki.
Highs: 17-18

Eastern North Island

Cloudy this morning with the odd shower clearing away, sunny areas develop mid to late afternoon. Light winds tend easterly after midday.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather by afternoon, light winds tend north to northwesterly after midday.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud breaks to mainly sunny weather, afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
High: 15-17

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather by afternoon, east to northeasterly winds develop.
High: 16

West Coast

Cloudy areas with west to southwesterly winds, chance of the odd shower mainly later in the day.
High: 14

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with gusty westerly winds, strong this afternoon and evening especially about the Southland coastline. Chance of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Otago will see sunny areas with winds not as strong, the shower risk is lower too.
