Wednesday’s national forecast

A ridge clings onto the North Island today while a northwesterly airflow gradually develops over the South Island. Mainly settled weather for most however the West Coast of the South Island sees some rain as the day moves along.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly sunny with light winds after any mist or fog clears this morning.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with light winds tending west to northwesterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds tend east to northeasterly in the afternoon near the coast.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Mostly sunny with light northerly winds becoming breezy after midday.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Canterbury

Mainly sunny with light Nor’Easterly winds near the coast, winds tend northwest inland.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast

Sunny areas and increasing cloud, some rain moves in late afternoon or evening Hokitika southwards the spreading northwards overnight. Light northerlies.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago

A mainly sunny day with light northerly quarter winds, some developing high cloud this afternoon. Overnight spots of rain.
Highs: 16-18
