Wednesday night’s national forecast

A ridge is losing its grip over the country but hangs on for one more night meaning things are still fairly settled. Isolated showers about eastern and some inland parts of the North Island clear this evening, in the South Island a front approaches the far south overnight.

Cloudy spells with brisk easterly winds. The odd shower at times.
Tonight’s Lows: 15-16

Areas of cloud with easterly breezes, risk of a shower.
Tonight’s Lows: 14-15

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Sunny spells with east to northeast breezes, chance of a shower or two then clearing this evening. Lighter winds overnight with some cloud.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-15

Eastern North Island
Some cloud with easterlies near the coast easing this evening, light winds overnight. Heavy showers about the ranges spread to the coast for a time this evening then clearing later. Showers could contain thunderstorms.
Tonight’s Low: 13

Western North Island
Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower or two this evening then clearing. Sea breezes ease, light winds overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 12-13

Mainly clear skies overnight with northerly breezes.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Clear with a few clouds, northeasterlies ease later this evening. Light winds overnight. Isolated showers inland, some heavy clear this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Mainly clear skies, north to northwest breezes ease this evening. A few isolated showers about southern Marlborough clear this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Mainly clear skies, some high cloud for a time. Easterlies ease near the coast this evening. Northwesterly breezes inland.

West Coast
Cloudy with the odd shower and north to northwest breezes. Some rain develops about Fiordland overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-14

Coastal Otago
Some high cloud, east to northeast winds ease this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Southland & Central Otago
High cloud with north to northwest breezes, winds change southwest overnight about Southland with rain developing. Rain develops more around dawn for Centreal Otago.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11
