An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather to the North Island today with a weakening front pushing northwards over the South Island during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes. Northland may see a light shower or two in the east this morning, then the risk of an isolated shower in the afternoon.
Highs: 26-28

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny however some cloud about Manawatu and Kapiti may bring a few light morning showers.
Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 24-26

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, northwesterlies about Wairarapa. Light afternoon east to northeast winds about coastal Hawkes Bay / Gisborne.
Highs: 26-31

Wellington
Sunny spells, breezy northwesterly winds change southerly late evening or overnight with cloud thickening.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with breezy afternoon north to northwesterly winds, overnight southerlies bring some cloud.
Highs: 27-32

Canterbury
Sunny, light northwesterlies change southerly in the evening with some cloud. Chance overnight drizzle.
Highs: 28-32

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower. Rain about Fiordland with heavy falls, spreading northwards and easing to about Hokitika by evening.
Highs: 19-24

Southland & Otago
Rain then the odd shower and sunny spells from afternoon, northwesterlies change southwest in the morning about Southland and afternoon for Otago.
Highs: 17-26
