A large anticyclone sits in the Tasman Sea today, a west to southwesterly airflow moving around this high flows over the country during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with southwesterly winds. Cloud thicker at times about western coastlines. Sunnier the further east you go, especially about the likes of Bay Of Plenty and eastern Northland. Overnight cloud thickens up for most.
Highs: 16-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, sunny spells may be longer for inland areas. Cloud potentially thicker nearer the coast. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
Sunny, afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Cloudy areas, increasing north to northwesterly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-21

Canterbury
Sunny with afternoon east to northeasterly winds, inland about the ranges winds tending to the northwest.
Highs: 15-19

West Coast
Sunny spells, cloud thickens up later in the evening then there may be a shower or two overnight. West to southwesterly winds picking up from afternoon.
Highs: 14-18

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some high cloud from afternoon then a few spits are possible later in the evening. Westerly winds pick up later in the day.
Highs: 13-20
