Tuesday’s national forecast

Southerlies continue over the South Island today although they will ease, a slack pressure gradient over the North Island may produce some morning fog.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some morning low cloud or fog possible (especially inland areas) then sunny spells, an isolated shower or two develops in the afternoon then clearing in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 13-14

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Some morning low cloud or fog possible (especially inland) then sunny spells, an isolated shower or two develops in the afternoon then clearing in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds, a shower or two for the Wairarapa however with southeasterlies there. Some cloud with the chance of a shower about Hawkes Bay in the evening.
Highs: 10-13

Wellington
Cloudy with the odd shower, fresh cool southerly winds.
High: 10

Marlborough & Nelson
Areas of rain with cool southeasterly winds, snow flurries to 600m.
Highs: 8-11

Canterbury
The odd shower, mostly clearing in the afternoon. Snow flurries in the ranges to 500m at first then clearing also. Some sun may then break through. Cool southwesterly winds ease.
Highs: 6-8

West Coast
Mostly sunny weather with southeasterly winds, some cloud about Buller may bring a shower or two.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells about Southland and Central Otago, skies becoming clear in the evening for some areas with frosty conditions overnight. Coastal Otago has a mostly cloudy day with a shower or two at times. Southeasterlies tend easterly by midday.
Highs: 7-9
