A north to northwesterly airflow increases over New Zealand today while a front moves eastwards towards the western side of the country in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells and increasing cloud, late evening showers then turning to rain. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with cloud increasing from afternoon, rain moves in later in the evening or overnight. Northwesterly winds
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny, some high cloud from late afternoon. There may be an overnight spot of rain. Light winds for most, northwesterlies pick up about the Wairarapa from afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Sunny spells and increasing cloud, late evening showers. Increasing northwesterly winds, strong by evening.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, northwesterly breezes pick up after midday. Late evening rain for Nelson then there may be a spot of rain overnight about Marlborough.
Highs: 17-21

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud increasing from afternoon, overnight spots of rain. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-21

West Coast

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from midday, cloud thickens and lowers in the evening with drizzle moving in. Some overnight rain. North to northeasterly winds gradually increase.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, rain moves in later in the evening or overnight. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-21
