A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today while an area of low pressure moves onto the upper North Island during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud, a few sunny spells. Isolated showers afternoon / early evening possibly heavy with thunderstorms about Northland, Waikato and southern parts of Auckland. Light winds.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy, a few showers about. Easterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with showers or areas of rain, easterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with easterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy with drizzle patches, dry spells may become more prominent afternoon / evening. Easterly winds.
Highs: 15

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with drizzle patches, becoming drier into the afternoon with some sun even breaking through. The odd isolated shower may develop late afternoon about inland areas. East to northeasterly winds breezy about the coast.
High: 14

West Coast

Areas of cloud, there may be a shower or two about but also a chance of sunny spells. Light winds.
Highs: 16-27

Southland & Otago

Sunny spells, there may be an isolated shower late afternoon / evening mainly inland. Coastal Otago is mainly cloudy with the odd drizzle patch. Light easterlies for most, breezy northeasterly winds about coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-17
