Tuesday’s national forecast

A ridge lies over much of the North Island today meanwhile a front moves onto the lower South Island. Dry for most apart from showers about the far south and in the west of the South Island, a few isolated showers may spring up about Northland also.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny weather for Auckland and the Waikato after any morning cloud breaks away, west to southwesterly winds. The Bay Of Plenty sees mainly sunny weather, light winds tend northerly this afternoon. Northland has sunny areas, cloud builds a little in the afternoon with isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening, light winds at first then sea breezes.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, westerly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny with light winds, onshore east to northeast winds possible about Hawkes Bay in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Mainly sunny with some high cloud, Nor’West winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds this morning tending Northerly this afternoon.

Highs: 20-23

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds change southerly later in the evening with some cloud.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with west to southwesterly winds, some rain about Fiordland. The odd shower spreads into North Westland during the afternoon then most areas of precipitation clear away in the evening.
Highs: 17-19

Southland & Otago

High cloud thickens this morning, showers pass through this afternoon possibly heavy with a cool southwest change then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 15-18
