A westerly quarter airflow lies over New Zealand today, meanwhile a cold southwest change hits the lower South Island this morning moving northwards to reach the lower North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with westerly winds, may be a shower or two about.
Highs: 18-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of cloud with the odd shower, showers becoming heavier overnight as northwest winds change southwest.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, an overnight southwest change for Wairarapa brings rain.
Highs: 21-23

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud, overnight rain as gusty northwest winds change strong southerly.
High: 18-19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with northwesterly winds picking up in the afternoon, overnight rain with a south to southwest change. Rain may become heavy for Marlborough especially in the south.
Highs: 20-23

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, there may be a touch of high cloud. A strong southwest change in the evening brings rain, rain becomes heavy overnight for North Canterbury.
Highs: 19-22

West Coast

Cloudy with showers, heavy rain moves into Fiordland in the morning then pushes northwards reaching North Westland in the afternoon. Northwesterlies change southerly in the evening.
Highs: 14-17

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny then late morning / around midday a fresh southwest change brings rain, easing to showers in the evening then clearing overnight.
Highs: 13-16
