An anticyclone to the east and a low pressure system to the west directs a northerly airflow over New Zealand today, a front pushes into western areas during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Dry at first then patchy rain about Northland spreads into Auckland around midday then further south in the evening. Freshening northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, cloud thickens from afternoon with the odd shower moving into Taranaki then expect evening rain. Rain spreads elsewhere overnight.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny, some high cloud possible mainly later in the day. Overnight spots of rain. Northerly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Sunny spells with northerly winds, rain likely overnight.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud, rain develops late afternoon for Nelson then evening for Marlborough. Northerly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
High cloud, late evening or overnight patchy rain. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast
Mostly cloudy, may be a shower then rain develops in the evening. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
High cloud with light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 6-10
