An anticyclone lies over the South Island today meanwhile a front further north gradually weakens.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain, some sun possible from afternoon otherwise fairly cloudy. Isolated showers developing in the afternoon also, chance one or two may be heavy then clearing later on. Light winds tend to the north or northeast.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny spells with southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-23

Eastern North Island
Areas of rain about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, the odd shower for Wairarapa. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-22

Wellington
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southeasterly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Any morning cloud breaks then mostly sunny, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Canterbury
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-21

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, may be some evening high cloud. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-19
